Photomechanics & Experimental Mechanics – PEM

The scientific action of the PEM operation can be described by two ways, closely linked:

  • Photomechanics, in one hand, which includes all the activities allowing the emergence, the improvement and the adaptation to new fields of investigation, of optical measurement methods.

  • Experimental Mechanics, in other hand, which concerns the understanding of  mechanical phenomena linked to structures and materials, by coupling model, identification and experiment. In this last rather wide field, we can note our particular skills in the domains of fracture mechanics, thermo-mechanical couplings, identification and biomechanics.

Finally, as our scientific activities are generative of new technics of investigation, a part of our activities is dedicated to the developpement and promotion of our knowledge for the industry and academic fields.
